PAKISTAN

Nanga Parbat reflected on a lake in Fairy Meadows, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan

PAKISTAN

Pakistan is one of the most misunderstood countries I’ve ever traveled to, and also one of the most rewarding. It’s a destination that many people would never even consider visiting, yet I found some of the warmest hospitality, most breathtaking landscapes and richest history I’ve experienced anywhere in the world.

From the rugged mountain peaks and historic forts of Hunza to the cold deserts of Skardu, the vast landscapes of Deosai National Park and the mountain paradise of Fairy Meadows, Pakistan offers extraordinary scenery at every turn. At the same time, cities like Lahore and Karachi reveal a completely different side of the country, filled with color, chaos, incredible food and centuries of history. Places like Badshahi Mosque, Wazir Khan Mosque and the ancient ruins of Taxila showcase just how deep and fascinating that history truly is.

What makes Pakistan so special is the feeling that you are constantly discovering something unexpected. It’s a country that still feels adventurous, raw and largely untouched by mass tourism, while offering a depth of culture and human connection that stays with you long after you leave.

Thinking about visiting?

One of the things I’ve loved most about sharing my travels online is seeing how many people feel inspired to experience these places for themselves.

Over the years, I’ve spent time exploring Pakistan and have come to know the kind of experiences, regions and local operators that can make a real difference.

If you’re planning a trip and would like some guidance or recommendations based on my own experience, feel free to reach out at travel@lauraabornstein.com and I’d be happy to point you in the right direction.
